Hamer Sunburst A/T
Arrived in a trade in a poor state of repair. No tuners, no pickups, covered in dust. Cleaned it up, wired in new Switch humbuckers and sourced vintage Schaller tuners in matching black and chrome.

A beautiful example of Fender’s Japanese output. This does everything a tele should; twang, grit, warmth, the lot. The pickups are a 1980’s Seymour Duncan ’54 Vintage Lead set for tele. Marked “IR”, they were hand wound by Connie Rocha when Seymour Duncan was still a small hands on business. …
Wienbrock amps and speaker cabs are hand made in Yorkshire, UK, and the quality is outstanding. This solidly built cabinet is loaded with a Celestion Greenback speaker and offers a full rich tone that belies it’s small size. It enhanced every amp I ran through it.
The best guitar Noisegate ever made? Quite possibly. This pedal was handmade in the USA before Rocktron acquired it and mass produced it. It’s simple: two separate selectable noisegates with one dial each. Turn to desired level, play. What it does beautifully is retain the tone and release/decay incredibly naturally.
The Klon Centaur is arguably the most desired pedal in guitar history, so it was only a matter of time before China delivered copycats. This DIY kit was bought off eBay and comes with everything one needs to build the entire pedal at home. It took a little preparation, mainly down to separating and organising…
Backing/jam track in G Minor (Bb Major), chords shown on the video.
The closest solid state gets to real valves. I got really lucky with this one…..it was advertised on eBay for local collection only, just down the road from ours, and as spares n repairs. The description read “we’ve plugged it in and the red light comes on but we’ve got no way of testing it”……it…
A perfect guitar compressor, handbuilt in the UK. Turn it on, find the sweet spot, play.
2010 Fender HH Blacktop Strat MIM
Laid back blues groove jam track.
Handbuilt in the UK, this cost effective pedal does an excellent job of emulating what is probably the world’s most desirable overdrive pedal. Having had this 12 months or so I sold it rashly one day, and only a couple of months later I saw it back up for sale with another owner so I…
A standard Squier standard Strat, relic’d and rebadged to appear like a 1960’s era Fender. Nicely done, I particularly liked the buckle rash relic-ing on the back, very authentic. Ciggie burn on the headstock also a nice touch. Video demo here:
This was a great Strat for the money and in really good condition for it’s 24-ish years old. Haven’t seen many other metallic candy red ones from this time. Tidy high gloss neck and a nicely balanced fretboard. Genuine Fender stamped hardware and height compensated pole pieces on the single coils. Cracking little job really, but…
Just 100 of these Mogwai Big Muff pedals were produced for marketing purposes, in support of Mogwai’s 2001 album Rock Action. They come in a wooden box with the usual Electro Harmonix case candy/sticker with custom Mogwai graphics on the box and the pedal itself. Most sources say the electric gubbins inside is just a standard…
In keeping with Kiss’s brash and gaudy persona this guitar is nearly as horrible to behold as it is to play. Horrendously uncomfortable, cheaply made and with zero character. This is mass produced crap at it’s worst. Sold it on an £0.01 auction start and got about £80 for it. Don’t ever buy. In fact,…
Epiphone’s attempt at hitting the 80’s shred trend brought with it these tidy Korean produced budget models. They were built in the famous Samick factory, and are surprisingly good value for their current second hand value of around £150 to £200. It’s a shame their take on the Floyd Rose tremolo didn’t catch on more, as it incorporates…
Absolute beast of a guitar, played and sounded as good as it looks. Picked this up a local cash convertors for next to nothing. It was spec’d out to the max already; ebony fretboard, birds eye maple neck, flame carved top, roller string trees, twin hot rails with coil tap, brass hardware. Traded it for…
Not a huge amount to talk about here. Pretty bog standard Mexican Strat – decent sunburst finish, nicely played in rosewood board. Couple of dings n scrapes, including one fairly big chip that we filled with nail varnish and buffed out. Did a straight swap with it for a 1985 Japanese Modern Strat.
One of the best guitars I’ve ever played, never mind owned. It’s been hacked at, reshaped, thrown across stages, dropped countless times, had more pickups than a hooker and more. Worst of all for it, I’ve played it more than any other guitar I’ve ever owned. Let’s start at the beginning… I got this guitar…
Awesome handbuilt transparant overdrive. Both sides of the pedal offer subtlely different tones. The “blue” side is a very tone rich, warm overdrive. It can be pushed for some fantastic gritty, edgy drive, but I found it worked best as a cleaner boost. With the volume high, gain low and voicing on the rich side…
To start with, not my cup of tea. At all. Conversely, I spent quite a bit of time kitting it out. I don’t really know why. Got it in a trade. It had some Seymour Duncan Blackouts in so I whizzed them out to start with. eBay, Bosch, gone. Fitted a pair of Ibanez Infinity…
Simple and honest budget electro acoustic. Surprised me out the bag with a real deep warm tone, which I hadn’t expected at the price point. All solid back n sides, and some tasteful design thoughts throughout. Very impressive for the money.
Horrible guitar. Fancied one of these for ages, and I’ve played on a couple of Musicman/Ernie Ball guitars in the past. Always been partial to a bit of Van Halen, and I got offered it in a trade for a PRS SE, so I thought I’d give it a whirl as maybe a cheap but…
Got hold of this immaculate 50s modern player Strat at a good price. It’d never be touched, still had all the Fender case candy and the gig bag still had the Fender tag on the carry handle. Nice enough guitar, sounded like a Strat, played like any other Strat… Didn’t keep it long.
